Here is a step by step walkthrough on how to set up and use Playlister Go at your church.
Step one: Create an iPad tag
Once you log into Playlister Manage, start by going to your Screen Manager. In your Screen Manager, create a tag that says “ipad” or something similar. This tag will be used to determine which playlists are sent to your iPads.
Step 2: Create an access code and add a tag to it
Creating your access code
Go into your Settings and select “iPad Access Codes” (it is right under “users”).
Click the large yellow button that says “New Access Code" to create a new access code. I would recommend naming your new access code something like your church's name. The access code is what your families will type in to view your content, so it will need to be easy for you to communicate with them and it will need to be easy for them to remember.
Add your “ipad” tag to your access code
Click the “Add tag” button to add the tag for iPad playlists to your new access code.
Step 3: Add your iPad tag to your playlists
You can add your iPad tag to playlists you are currently using on TVs or you can create new playlists for families at home.
Just go to your Playlist Manager and select a playlist. Once you’ve pulled your playlist up, click the “add tag” button and select your “ipad” tag. This will make the playlist available on every ipad that uses your access code.
That’s all you need to do as a leader to set up Playlister Go.
Here are instructions on how your families will be able to view your playlists on their iPads. You can click here to view these steps in an article dedicated to watching playlists in Playlister Go. This blog post will be easy for anyone to understand so we recommend sharing it with your church members when you tell them about Playlister Go.
Step 1: Download the “Playlister Go” app on your iPad
Just search for “Playlister Go” on the app store and download the app.
Step 2: Open Playlister Go and find your church
Once Playlister Go has finished downloading, you can open the app. You will see a screen with a search bar that says “find your church.” Tap the search bar and begin typing your church’s name. Once you finish typing and hit “search”, all churches with the name you typed will show up.
Note- your church name will appear how it is listed from when you created your account. If you have uploaded a PNG logo in your account settings, it will also be displayed in Playlister Go. If you have not uploaded a custom logo, your church name will appear with a Playlister logo.
Step 3: Select your church and enter your access code
Enter your access code that was created by your Playlister account administrator to access your playlists. This is useful because only people who know the access code will be able to log in and view playlists.
Step 4: Enter your email address for verification
This email address does not have to be associated with a Playlister account and will not be shared in any way. Your account administrator will be notified that your email (example: johndoe@gmail.com) viewed your playlists on Playlister Go.
Step 5: Tap a playlist to open it
As you can see in this picture, Playlister Go is just like the Playlister Apple TV app but on an iPad. Just tap a playlist to open it up and then tap on an item to present it (this makes that item full screen). Just swipe to move to the next item :-)
Note- in your Playlist Manager, you can add “advance” actions (eg: advance to the next item after 10 seconds) that will still work on an iPad.
Final Considerations
You will want to share your access code and this article with your families so they can use Playlister Go. We would suggest using your normal communication channels to do this.
We understand that not all families have an iPad, so we are currently working on a web-based version of Playlister Go and will update you as our progress this progresses.
Note: you CAN make multiple access codes based on the content you are presenting. For instance, you can make a early-childhood-ipad tag and make an access code called “early-childhood.” This is a good way to segment your content based on the ages of kids that will be viewing it.
However, since many families have kids that are different ages, it will probably work best to send a playlist for each age group to all your iPads.
