You can now add subtitles to any video you upload into Playlister — no extra tools or software required. This premium feature is available to all customers at no additional cost, and makes your content more accessible for:
- Kids with hearing challenges
- Volunteers who are ESL learners
- Noisy classrooms
- General comprehension and clarity
✅ Requirements
To use subtitles:
You must be using the latest version of the Playlister Screen App (v6.21 or later) on your Apple TVs. Subtitles only display on Apple TVs running this version or higher.
📺 How to Enable Subtitles on a Video
Go to Playlist Manager Navigate to the playlist where your video is located. Click the three-dot menu (⋯) next to the video file. Select “Turn On Subtitles” from the dropdown menu. You’ll see a small “CC” icon appear in mint green next to the video title. This indicates that subtitles are now enabled for that file.
📸 Example:
🧠 Note: You can turn subtitles on or off at any time using the same menu.
🧪 What happens when subtitles are on?
Subtitles will automatically display when the video plays on your Apple TVs (as long as they are updated). Subtitles are auto-generated when you upload your video and optimized for clarity.
🛠 Troubleshooting
Subtitles aren’t showing on my TV
Make sure your Apple TV app is updated to Screen App v6.21 or later. Confirm that the “CC” icon appears next to the video in Playlist Manager. Restart your Apple TV to ensure it syncs with the latest settings.
Can I edit or upload custom subtitles?
Not at this time — but we’re actively exploring subtitle customization options for a future release.
🎉 Why Subtitles Matter
This feature was built from direct feedback from church leaders like you. We believe that every child deserves to understand the message & every volunteer deserves a tool that makes leading easier, not harder.
